Written and spoken words hold so much power. There's a bible verse that says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." As writers are we responsible for the positive or negative effects of the words we choose to publish?
I don't know why I doubted her but Paula Abdul returned to American idol this season.
I really didn't think she would return after one of the rejected singers committed suicide near Abdul's house. Imagine how strong words are. "I hated it. You can't sing. Go home" words similar to those pushed a young woman over the edge.
The fact is as we go about our everyday routines saying this and saying that and writing our little blogs...we are really unaware of the sensitivity and mentality of the readers or hearers of our words. But I, for one do not think everyone should censor themselves. Speak your mind.
I think being politically correct 100 % of the time lessens the artistry of our craft...
Have anyone ever said something or wrote something that effected you emotionally? Tell your story.
Do you think we are responsible for the readers and hearers negative reactions, self-esteem and mentality if you post something offensive?
I'm all for "keeping it real" but how "real" should we get in our writings? What do you think
